A couple of months ago, my sister LC came out for a weekend to visit Miss B and me while DP was off doing his thing for the month of March. As usual when LC visits, much jollity ensued, as well as copious amounts of goofing off. Our joy was unrestrained when, on Saturday morning, Miss B’s soccer game was cancelled, allowing us free rein to gallivant into Kansas City and carry out the following agenda:
Exploring food and other details of daily life on three (and counting) continents

Small things
First of all, I want to thank everyone who has written in response to my last post, whether in the comments here or via other means. I greatly appreciate the kindness, sympathy, and offers of help--they make the whole situation feel a little bit less nightmarish.
We are all coping with this new state of affairs reasonably well, I think: making slow progress on dealing with the aftermath of the fire and, crucially, looking to the future to make some necessary changes to my parents’ living situation. Much of that is just writing down tasks on a list and then crossing them off as they are completed.

New normal
A couple of posts ago I wrote about how I have struggled with when to break away from the blog’s standard format. I think I know what the main criterion is now: it’s when I can’t not write about something. This blog is, at its most basic, a chronicle of my everyday life, and some things happen that it just doesn’t feel right to have be invisible. Because when I look back at the archives, I’ll remember what was happening, and it will feel odd to have that missing. So I’m going to tell you about the unpleasant thing that I referred to in my last post.
Maybe writing about it will make it seem less surreal.

FM goodies
I was hoping to get back to regular blog fodder about now, but once again real life has intervened in a particularly unpleasant form....More on that later. For now, a bit of escapism as I share with you the first true haul of the farmers' market season:
I hope the universe has been good to you this weekend.
I believe I see jam in my near future.... |
...after I finish eating all this in the next two days... |
I hope the universe has been good to you this weekend.
